I have a Mommy!
It's so easy to take things for granted in life, like those of us who were raised with Mothers. Mothers who were present in our lives. My mother was there from birth, celebrating holidays, believing in me... helping me learn how to celebrate my wins and who held me when I cried over my losses. We all know those who complain that their mothers were difficult or not there enough for them in the ways they hoped they would be... but most of us, had them.
When Kajal won her art contest the other day I decided to bake her a cake to celebrate. I decorated it with pink frosting and her favorite pink and green sparkling sugar crystals... her favorite colors. She was so excited when she saw it she jumped up and down and hugged me, screaming out loud "I have the best Mommy!!!!" (Thank goodness she seems to have forgotten all those moments she wanted to throw me out a window)
The next morning she jumped on my bed... can I have a piece of my special cake Mom... cake for breakfast? She was so happy, I couldn't resist... alright baby, a small piece but only if you eat a huge banana first. She couldn't believe it... really, really? She started jumping up and down on my bed screaming:
I have a Mommy! I have a Mommy! I have a MOMMMMMMMMYYYY!
Some how, that little piece of shimmering pink cake reminded her that she in fact, really had... a mom. A fact that at times, I think still surprises her...
A painting Kajal did recently of the two of us telling each other how much we love each other
